Mission & Vision
Our Mission
Our program is predicated in part on the recommendations of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service presented in their report “Inspired to Serve.” We include a robust focus during primary and secondary education on civics, media literacy, current affairs and other courses promoting good citizenship. This is followed after high school graduation with three months basic training that includes in addition to military training a reinforcement of these citizenship courses. After that all would be encouraged to serve one or two years in military service or with AmeriCorps or other civilian service organizations.
Our Vision
We envision a future where:
- An enlightened understanding of our Constitutional Democracy forms a core part of our everyday life, our relations with others, and our choices for elected and appointed officials to lead us
- We think critically about the information that we consume
- Service is recognized as a natural extension of our citizenship, an obligation in return for the rights and privileges granted to us by the Constitution
- A shared sense of responsibility strengthens the nation
Our Approach
We connect two core ideas:
Education builds understanding.
Service builds responsibility.
Together, they help create a more engaged and informed society through opportunities such as civilian programs like AmeriCorps or military service.
Why It Matters
In today’s environment, information is constant, but understanding and engagement are not guaranteed.
Without a strong foundation in civic knowledge and responsibility, it becomes more difficult for individuals to:
- Participate effectively in democracy
- Evaluate information responsibly
- Contribute to their communities
Our mission is rooted in addressing this gap—by promoting both education and service as essential elements of a healthy society.
